Weather tends to be a little fickle here in Chicago during April. As Stephanie and Alex’s Chicago destination wedding approached, I kept a close eye on the forecast. While walking through the streets of Chicago, heading to meet up with Stephanie and Alex the morning of the wedding, I thought how fortunate they were to catch Chicago on a warm Spring day. When I met up with Stephanie and her bridal party on the morning of the wedding, at the beautiful Kimpton Hotel Palomar, everything was cool, calm, and collected. Stephanie had been finishing up her wedding day hair style and was excited as the day was finally here. One of the moments Stephanie and Alex were most looking forward to on this day was their first look. With the assistance of Erin, from Shannon Gail Weddings & Events, we set up the first look on the scenic 17th floor terrace. It was perfectly picturesque when Alex turned around – his emotion as he saw Stephanie for the first time on their wedding day was unforgettable. The high rises in the background was also overwhelming with architectural majesty as these two started on the celebration of their Chicago destination wedding.
The wedding day was made extra special – not only was it bringing Stephanie and Alex together, but it was also uniting their family with their five wonderful children. Ranging from 7th grade all the way down to sweet little Chelsea baby, it was only natural falling in love with the joy and excitement this family chose to share with every one of their friends and family present.
One of my favorite moments of the day is when Alex brought out his guitar and serenaded is new wife at the beginning of the reception. Everyone cheered and sang along as Stephanie’s son and daughter clung to her side. The dance floor came alive with the many friends and family who traveled from near and far to celebrate with the jubilant couple. In typical Chicago fashion, the city showed her true weather colors as a snow storm rolled in when they left town the next day. One of the groomsmen was excited by this turn of events because this was the first time in his life that he had ever seen snow.
Many happy years are ahead of the beautiful couple and I am so excited to share these sneaks peeks from their unforgettable wedding day.
A special thanks to all the vendors who made Stephanie & Alex’s day beautiful!
