The weather was anything but favorable when I met up with Cyrielle and Matthew for their engagement session. The wind was whipping along the lakefront and it was almost impossible not to shiver from the dropping temps. We walked along the lake from Ohio Street Beach to the DuSable Harbor while chatting and getting to know each other a little better. Looking back at this chilly engagement session, I see nothing but love and warmth surrounding these two. I first met Cyrielle and Matthew earlier this fall at a frozen yogurt shop to chat about their upcoming 21018 wedding. It was plain to see how comfortable and perfectly matched these two are for each other. This may be attributed to how long they have known one another. First meeting in high school and then rekindling an old crush once they finished college – the timing was finally just right for both of them to find love.
A downtown session in Chicago was a perfect choice for Cyrielle & Matthew’s engagement photos. The city contains so much fondness for these two because it is not only where they reside, but also holds a bounty of wonderful memories they’ve already shared. When Matthew proposed to Cyrielle, he recreated their first date to the Chicago Art Museum. While they were busy walking around enjoying the art and exhibits, Cyrielle’s sister was helping set up the perfect romantic surprise on the roof of Matthew’s apartment building. A blanket and candles were there to greet Cyrille and Matthew as they walked up onto the roof. Of course, the real surprise of the evening came when Matthew asked her to be his wife. As Cyrielle told me the story, a smile came across her face as she looked at Matthew and exclaimed, “It was perfect!”
Cyrielle & Matthew’s May wedding is right around the corner – so as they are busy getting down to the nitty gritty of wedding planning I can’t help but be so excited for the new wedding season to get started. These favorites of mine from their engagement session will help warm you up in the meantime. Enjoy!
