Greek Venison Steaks with Citrus Salad and Gentleman’s Sour Cocktail

We have a busy weekend here at MLP as we have the pleasure of shooting two weddings.  Which means an extra recipe for you this weekend.   Krista and Jim are getting married on Sunday at the newly revitalized  Fisherman’s Inn in Elburn.  This is the perfect venue for Krista & Jim.  These two love the outdoors and this venue has the perfect blend of rustic elegance and natural outdoor beauty.  Now one of Krista and Jim’s favorite foods is Venison.  We are fortunate enough to have a brother-in-law who loves to hunt – and he’s generous enough to share some of his various venison cuts with us every year   We love grilling either the chops or steaks using a Greek marinade which makes the cuts absolutely delicious.  These steaks pair perfectly with a light and crisp citrus spring green salad.   Served of course with a Jack Daniels – Gentleman’s Sour.

Venison Greek Marinade

1 clove chopped garlic

1/4 c fresh squeezed lime juice

2 tbs olive oil

1 tbs greek seasoning

salt and pepper to taste

 

Citrus Salad Dressing

1 chopped shallot

1/2 tbs garlic

3/4 c mandarin orange juice

1/4 c fresh squeezed lime juice

1/4 c fresh squeezed lemon juice

2 tbs olive oil

salt and pepper to taste

 

Salad

Spring greens mix

Sliced strawberries

Mandarin oranges

Julienned carrots

Gentleman’s Sour

2 oz Jack Daniels

1 oz fresh lemon juice

1 oz simple syrup

lemon garnish
