Krista and Jim first met online and after chatting a while they eventually decided to meet up for a date. Jim recognized Krista right away. Krista knew Jim looked familiar yet couldn’t exactly pinpoint where she knew him from. Throughout the first date Jim continued to drop hints to Krista on how they had met previously. Finally it clicked. They had met in high school as their groups of friends occasionally crossed paths. This time however, it was different – both a little older and both looking for something more than a high school romance.
Jim knew Krista was the one and had planned to ask for her hand in marriage at a very special spot. Jim’s family owns a lake house on Lake Michigan. This is a spot that they have enjoyed visiting over the first few years of their relationship. It was on one special trip that Jim led Krista out to the dock. This was of course the same dock he had first told Krista he loved her. Jim pulled out a few surprises from his camping backpack; Krista’s favorite bottle of champagne, his favorite bottle of Bourbon, and an engagement ring. As he poured their drinks into their camping glasses he spoke of how much their love had grown and then asked Krista to be his wife. They then toasted this incredible moment and are now busy planning a beautiful spring wedding.
Any photographer will tell you it is truly an honor to capture another photographer’s wedding day. From the moment I first met Krista, I was excited and so very gracious this talented photographer chose us to capture her and Jim’s big day. Krista had some amazing ideas for her engagement session which I was more than happy to go along with. The Graue Mill location is beautiful and the fall leaves were at their peak! The weather chose not to cooperate, but with the help of a few umbrellas, Krista’s parents, and the love of their German Shepard Grimm, we were able to capture some exciting and sweet moments of their engagement.
Here are a few of my rainy day favorites!
