The first time I chatted with Katina and Brian on the phone, they were quick to bring up what big fans they are of the Chicago Cubs. No wonder we all clicked so quickly, I am in total agreement that the Cubs are the best team in the MLB. I know it will pain Marc to read this because he is a diehard south side Chicago White Sox fan. When Katina suggested they bring their Cubs gear to their engagement session, I was certainly game for that. Although there are many disagreements here on which Chicago team is superior, one thing is undebatable, and that is how perfectly matched Katina and Brian are for each other. We met up recently for their engagement session in their hometown of Crystal Lake. These two met in the eighth grade and started dating their Junior year of High School after having 7 classes together. From then on, they have been inseparable – their beautiful relationship has blossomed as they have grown up together.
Katina’s suggestion of photographing their engagement session in Crystal Lake was perfect. These two kept each other warm as we first began shooting at Veteran Acres Park. The sun was shining while we chatted excitedly about the details of their upcoming November wedding. The next stop for us was downtown Crystal Lake. I always enjoy shooting in small downtown areas and this is another example of one that did not disappoint. As we surveilled the area, Katina pointed out the place she performed dance recitals, and the Starbucks where family meets every Sunday after church. Both Katina and Brian have mentioned how close they are to their own families and how much they enjoy spending time with each other’s as well. This is something I too can relate with, as I am not sure how well I would cope with not talking to my mama or sisters every couple of days.
We are excited to meet both Katina and Brian’s families for their upcoming wedding day as we share in the celebration. Until then, here are a few of my favorite images from their engagement session.
