Nicole and Michael’s November wedding was our last wedding of the 2017 season and we were so happy to end it on such a high note. Let me just preface this blog post by saying how much I love big Italian weddings. From the moment Marc and I were greeted at the front door by Nicole’s parents, we felt like we were part of the family. Nicole’s mom was buzzing around the kitchen in her apron making sure everyone had something to eat while Nicole’s dad, with great big smile, was answering the door and introducing the guests to each other. The house grew more and more crowded as grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins gathered around to start the day’s celebration. Nicole sat calmly in the kitchen finishing hair and makeup – joyfully waving to each family member as they arrived. Across town, Michael was prepping for the day surrounded by his family as they shared a few jokes, hugs and smiles. The amount of love between everyone on this day is not easy to put into words because the air was just electrified with joy.
One of my favorite parts of the day came at the reception when Nicole’s father stood up to make his speech. I am sure this day has played out in his mind since Nicole was a little girl, and even more so after she had told her family that Michael was the one. Nicole’s father stood up in front of many friends and family members fighting back tears. He told the story about the pinecones on the table. Some had come from Nicole’s childhood home, some from her grandparents’ home, and some from her parents’ current home. All the places she had loved growing up. Little pieces of memories that led Nicole to this point in time, her wedding day. He continued to speak of many additional memories which will be created as she goes forth with Michael by her side.
The reception continued well into the evening with lots of hugs, high fives, and amazing dance moves. We loved being welcomed into such a wonderful celebration, and we are excited to share our favorite memories from the day.
